Utrecht
RustWeek 2026 will take place in Utrecht, one of the largest and most beautiful cities of the Netherlands. Utrecht is known for its medieval city centre and lovely canals, and has excellent public transport and walkability.
Utrecht’s train station is the biggest and most central train station in the country, making it the central hub for (international) trains in the Netherlands.
General information
Utrecht is the name of both the city and the province right in the center of the Netherlands. The city has about 400.000 inhabitants, making it the fourth largest city in the Netherlands. The historic city center is beautiful and features a lot of canals as well as the famous Dom tower.
Attractions
The most eye-catching building in Utrecht is the Domkerk; a cathedral with a large tower called the Dom tower in the city centre. The cathedral and the tower are open to the public and the latter will give you a very good view over the city.
The Spoorwegmuseum (Railroad museum) is a museum entirely dedicated to trains with many classic and modern trains on display. You can reach it by regular public transport or with a dedicated train from Utrecht Central Station.
The province of Utrecht contains a lovely national park called Utrechtse Heuvelrug (“heuvel” means “hill” in Dutch and those are about the closest we get to mountains).
