by Antonio Piraino and Oli Scherer

We will talk about how moderation works in the Rust project and its challenges across the project (in different venues) over the past year. We will give a quick overview about the tools we use and those we wish to have.

Antonio is mostly working with the Compiler team, facilitating the organizational work (meetings, pull requests tracking, issue prioritization, etc.) in co-operation with the other project members. During the last year also helped the moderation team.

Oli started contributing to Rust around the 1.0 release, because attempting to replicate Ada’s subtypes showed that const eval just wasn’t up to it yet. In 2018 they became a compiler team member and has been maintaining parts of the Rust compiler ever since. For the last 3 years they’ve also been a moderation team member, navigating the various conflicts within and outside the Rust community.
